not sure if the mountain tries to break through, or if it’s the clouds invading – probably more the latter and it looks a bit like when the fellowship tried to pass mount caradhras. the snowstorm is building up…
this picture is the beginning of a couple of things; it’s my very first photo ever taken in italy (the beginning of my love of italy, italian food, wine and culture) back in 1989 just outside livorno. it’s also in the very beginning of my interest for photography, i can’t swear fully but i believe it’s coming out of my first ever roll of positive film for slides.
composition wise it’s not following the rule of third for the horizon, the castle-like building is placed ok, but at that time i had never heard of any rules for photography – i was struggling enough to get exposure time and aperture decently right. maybe not the best photo, but the beginning of a great friendship (or two). 🙂
interesting to follow the aftermath of snowden and nsa. we now have young and what you thought well educated people publicly announcing their abandoning of facebook and other social media as a mean of communication with their friends. especially when they conclude that they will rather use mobile phone calls and text messaging instead….
better watch out for the spies in the wires!
